PCV hose mod?

Found my PCV hose collapsing at the upper elbow, where it connects to the valve cover. I don't want to install a catch can. Have ya'll had success with any mods that live longer than the OEM parts ? If there are after market alternate parts a link would be great. Thanks and a hell of a New Year!

PCV Valve is almost closed at idle, high vacuum, so if hose is collapsing then I would suspect PCV valve needs to be changed, also check Vent Hose it allows fresh air to be pulled in.

Positive crankcase ventilation(PCV) pulls a small amount of air from crankcase/valve cover areas to prevent Blow-by from polluting the outside air.

Blow-by is normal in all internal combustion engines, it's the hot gases(exhaust) that "blows-by" the piston and rings every time a cylinder fires.
These hot gases also vaporize some of the oil on the piston sides, rings and cylinder walls, this is where the oil vapor in an engine comes from, not bearings or valve train, they do not get hot enough to vaporize oil, they spray oil out, but no vapor is created.

As an engine gets older there will be more blow-by as rings wear out, so more oil vapor will be created, and that's when Catch-Cans are used, just on older high mile engines, and all they do is to cool the oil vapor enough to condense it back to a liquid, so it doesn't coat the inside of the intake with oil.

PCV system has a valve that is controlled by engine vacuum, high vacuum mean low blow-by so valve is pulled closed by high vacuum, as vacuum goes down(acceleration) valve opens more as blow-by increases.
It is a balancing act so PCV Valve needs to be free to move as vacuum changes.
System is designed so there is slight negative pressure in the running engine's crankcase/valve cover all the time, but not too much.

If you pull out dipstick on a running engine there should be a slight negative pressure at the tube.

There is no reason you can't use plastic elbow and same size hoses to retro fit PCV hoses, they are just low pressure hoses.
Hose from intake/vacuum source to PCV Valve will have full engine vacuum so does need to be a thicker hose or hard plastic
