Spark timing?

Dies the stick ecu auto time the spark because on my laptop Wich is hooked straight to it and it's reading that while I'm tuning haven't played with timings at all just fuel ar and cam profiling due to vvt

Depends on the year

If you have a distributor then the ECU just does Load Spark Advance changes, i.e. "vacuum advance" changes

If distributorless then ECU does RPM spark advance, and Load Advance

Distributors had weights and springs that advance spark as distributor spun faster, mechanical advance
Vacuum advance actually retarded spark for Richer fuel mix when you pressed down on the gas pedal

If you are distributorless then you can set the spark advance curves as you want

I was not aware Ford put VVT in any of the 2.3 I was under the impression it was a locked cam position.

No, I pulled the vvt cams and full harness and all and spliced the Mazda 6 equipment into my duratec ranger
I'm also running 2.0 head that's been ported out by .005

I spent a month and half comparing the 2007 Mazda 6 manual to the ranger manual and both harnesses

Any tricks to tuning? Would like to tune out this BS IMRC system and maybe adjust fuel a little bit.

For start find the crankshaft sensor at the bottom of the block I'll post a pic later, move the sensor as far down, this will effect spark timing, next, smooth out baffles and obstructions in the runner intake.
Do the air box mod and stick a small screen in front of it,
Tuning wise, you'll need a Mazda 6 ecu/pcm otherwise your very limited
I've only just started tuning was playing with the turbo and spark and cold air

I'd have to look up the airbox mod, I have an 01.5 so I have the IMRC and unique MAF etc.
