1 Piece Driveshaft Swap - U Joints
1 Piece Driveshaft Swap - U Joints
Hey y’all,
‘97 4.0L Automatic Extended Cab, RWD
Looking to do the driveshaft swap as detailed here and on TRS. Getting tired of my Carrier Bearing vibrating and would rather not mess with having to shim it for it to eventually go bad again.
For anyone who HAS done it on a RWD/2WD, were the U-Joints the same size on the yokes? Getting little info on U-Joint size and RockAuto is giving me mixed reviews (saying 1310 for ‘97 and 1330 for ‘98).
I’d like to avoid using a mixed-size U-Joint. I could always just get the pinion yoke and slip yoke off of the ‘98+ truck but wanted to check here first for success stories without those two components if possible

Updating this - it IS a 1330 joint for the 98+ RWD. Don't think retrofit would work. If you get a shaft from the JY it will come with everything (I didn't know this at first). Got a new shaft in, see the thread I posted with new questions
