1354M interchangablity, also is it a good deal?

I stopped by our local salvage yard and asked about a 1354M transfer case.

The guy said he had one off a 90 Bronco II, and that it would fit a 91-95 Expo, and 90-94 Ranger.

Can this be used on my 01? I thought I saw before that everyone used the 95-98 1354M's

Also it's $200, is this a good deal?

He doesn't know if it still has it. At this place you can get the part you want yourself, so he wasn't sure if it was still on it.

That doesn't sound too bad because it seems you are having trouble finding a 1354m. I'm sure you can bring him down on the price. Definitly grab the linkage if its on there...they can be hard to find.

I'll try to bring him down, but I don't mind paying $200.

These guys that run this yard are nice and they really try to help get what you need at a fair price. Plus I can go take it all out of the truck myself.

How should I justify it if he calls bs on it?

I don't want to come across sounding arrogant or stupid, but if I'm haggling I want to sound like I know what I'm talking about.

$200 sounds high to me unless it has the linkage and its a very nice case = no leakage even then it might be a tad high.
I paid $400 for a Complete low mileage Level 2 setup. That includes all the interior parts, shifters, floor plate, linkage, T-case etc...

I would double check on the transfer case because I think I read somewhere that all BII's with manual cases had the 1350 only in 89 and 90 did they have the 1354 and when they did it was electric shift. So if this is a 1350 you're going to need the drive shaft too but it will bolt up to your trans. I've seen prices around here and all are $150+

Even with the 1354M being from a different truck will their be a problem hooking it to my driveshaft? Or any connection for that matter?

When I talk to him again I'll try for $100, but I won't go over $150

No the 1354M will hook up to your drive shaft just fine its the 1350 that's different that you would have to have modifications done unless an 80's ranger drive shaft is the same length.

Yea...just one thing I'm unsure of...is when you go manual I think I've read the GEM thinks there's a problem with the t-case and will flash the lights but not entirely sure but it won't effect how your truck drives or anything.

Well the gauge cluster i'm putting in doesn't have the 4x4 indicator so I don't think it will be a problem.

If anybody has anymore suggestions or precautions for me post em up.

Hopefully I can get started at the end of May. My spring break is over this week and it's back to school.
