ford ranger 1995 stx v6 ohv automatic transmission obd2 veriant
(i have a obd2 bluetooth with forscan and a smoke machine)
I'm having an issue with my ranger regardless of outside temp when starting it first thing in the morning it will start instantly with high rpms 1.5 then stall. on the second attempt it will hold high rps then slow drop till it stalls after 3-5 seconds. on the 3ed attempt it will hold high 1.5 then settle on 1 and stay on. this happens every morning. starts fine any other time unless its been running for a while then off for 10-30 mins while doing a store run it will suddenly refuse to idle at all and i have to drive it home giving it gas constantly to prevent it from stalling. ive also noticed it shakes back and forth a little when stopped at a light in drive.
i've tried
cleaning the maf sensor
cleaned the air intake sensor
replaced the erg plurge vavle and soinoid
replaced the erg sensor
replaced the camshaft syncronizer
replaced spark plug and cords.
replaced fuel filter

 

update 1
noticed a small leak in the erg hose so i repalced the hose between the pluge valve and solinoid and re cut the ends of the hose between the valve and air intake swapping the bit of hose on the elbow too. cleaned the **** out of the air intake and sanded down some putting near the bolt holes. the start stall dropped from 2 stalls to 1 stall.

 

Idle air control valve maybe? It could be sticking when cold, that could explain why it's only happening on cold starts and when cooled down after sitting for a bit. Good luck!

 

Buy a Motorcraft (or Hitachi) IAC valve ONLY. The electronics work better with Motorcraft.
