2.3l Engine for 2001 Ranger

What year engines will fit my 2001 2.3l 2wd Ranger
Also, where is the best place to buy qaulity engine parts for a master rebuild?

Welcome to the forum

2001 Ranger got the 2.3l DOHC Duratec engine in Mid year, early year 2001 Rangers had the 2.5l SOHC Lima engines

You need a 2001-2003 2.3l DOHC Duratec as a replacement, the 2004-2011 2.3l didn't have the IMRC(intake) or heated thermostat

Now you could use a 2004 to 2011 2.3l and swap over your older intake manifold and thermostat, for wiring match

Thanks for the information. Is rebuilding a good option? I put the used engine in and was told it was good. It don't have compression. Where would be the best place to get a master rebuild kit?

I haven't read much about the rebuilding of these engines, so can't really answer that question specifically
The timing chain setup on these is finicky to get it right

I have read these are reliable engines, I am surprised a used one was bad, no compression could be timing chain issue, and the 2.3l Duratec is an interference engine so pistons can hit the valves when they are open and out of time
