2.9L Trans - 4.0L Engine

2.9L Trans - 4.0L Engine

I was asked if a 2.9L Transmission will bolt to a 4.0L engine?.. I do not know the answer to this question, can someone please fill me in ? .. thanks yall!

I do not think it will,i am pretty sure the 2.3-2.5,2.9,3.0,4.0 all have a different bolt pattern,someone correct me if i am wrong.

It might as the as the last 2.9's were bored out to make the first run ohv4.0's

You are wron the 2.8 2.9 and 4.0 all have the same bolt patern and the transmition can be mated between them. The question is what flex plate or clutch you need to use with them and if its an a4ld how long will it last. Additional info is needed on the exact swap to help ive done several 4.0 swaps pm me if you need more info
