2001 Ford Ranger Edge 4X4 - I have a problem getting my vehicle to shift into 4 wheel drive when I turn my selector switch. It’s strange because it will shift after the truck is running / moving for about 5 miles or so and then sometimes it won’t shift at all till the next time I start the truck and run it for a while. I have replaced the transfer case shift motor and the problem still exists. The dash light does not light and I don't hear the 4X4 control module relay pick-up either... Any ideas would be appreciated immensely.

It's usually not the motor, it's the encoder and a stop inside it.
