2004 Ford Ranger XLT Supercab 4WD 5 spd manual

Hello all, new guy here with a question...... Has anyone changed out the front automatic hubs with manual locking hubs, like warn? I searched the forum for info on this but could not find much. How are the stock hubs engaged with just a switch? Vacuum, electric ? It may seem like a stupid question but we have not bought the truck yet so I am not familiar with their operation. Thanks

They are live, meaning they are always engaged. Must use 98-2000 parts to make it work as manual

Thanks, I didn't know that. Explains why the gas mileage is so low. Man, that is a set up I do not care for. Do you have any more info on the conversion? Or, maybe it's better to leave it alone?

I would just leave it alone. The vacumn hub system on a ranger isn't very strong or dependable, even using aftermarket hubs.
