2nd gear harsh shift

OK so i got my shaft all lubed up lol. Now ive been noticing that when it shifts into second gear its harsher than the others. It happends more when i kick her down going say 20. Or is that going into first? Anybody ever noticed this? thanks

No, you are not alone. I bought a 2002 this weekend and noticed today that it does the same thing. It takes off great but 1st gear winds way up before the shift. If you stay "on it a little" it will actually slip going into 3rd gear. All the stuff that I have read on it says that this is typical Ford Ranger transmission behavior. Lots of complaints. My first Ford. I'm hoping that I like the truck more than the Frontier that I just sold.
