2nd Gear issue

Hello,

So its seems that everyone has different issues with shifting, so here is my issue. I have 1998 Ranger 3.0 Manual Trans. While im driving and i try to shift into the 2nd gear its hard to get it to gear. I have to wiggle or put it into neutral then into second with some force and it will go in. Once into second I dont have any issues. While my truck is parked I can shift into each gear no issues. I dont know if my truck has had a new clutch or not but it has 170k miles on it. I also tried the old trick of starting off from a dead stop in second to see if the clutch is slipping and no issues.

Also would the transmission /clutch be the same from a 2000 3.0 Ford Ranger? I wrecked mine last week in the snow and bought the one im currently driving (both trucks are 3.0's and manuals transmissions) Thanks =)

check the clutch master cylinder fluid level. if its low fill it up. If its empty you have air in the system.

Do symptoms get better when you pump the clutch?
