4wd differential info

I was a big Ford enthusiast in the 70s & 80s. Today I'm a little lost. I have a 99 XLT with 4wd. How do I identify the front & rear differentials? How do I determine if they are limited slip? How do I determine the gear ratio?

Welcome to the forum,

Look at the drivers door label it has that info

Decoder here: https://therangerstation.com/tech_li...le_codes.shtml

Most but not all 4x4s had Limited Slip rear axle
Front axle was always OPEN type

1999 will have a Ford 8.8" rear axle
Front will be a Dana 35 SLA, info here: https://therangerstation.com/tech_li...a_35_sla.shtml
