4wd differential info

4wd differential info

I was a big Ford enthusiast in the 70s & 80s. Today I'm a little lost. I have a 99 XLT with 4wd. How do I identify the front & rear differentials? How do I determine if they are limited slip? How do I determine the gear ratio?

Look at the drivers door label it has that info

Most but not all 4x4s had Limited Slip rear axle
Front axle was always OPEN type

1999 will have a Ford 8.8" rear axle
