4wd switch versus stick

Does anyone have an opinion on which is more durable and less problematic for changing from 2wd to 4wd: switch or stick
Does anyone know what year they started using the switch?
Thank you

It's a lot more complicated than that. IF you want to swap to 4wd and use the electronic shift transfer case, you will need all of the computers and wiring off a doner 4x4 truck. The manual shift case is much simpler as its just the mechanical linkage to engage and disengage the 4x4. I will say that the manual transfer cases are getting harder and harder to come by though.
