4x4 disengages

Hi All,

New here and needing some help. I have a 1998 ranger XLT, 4x4 , 3.0, extended cab.
The 4 wheel drive keeps disengaging, it does it when you hit a bump, going down a steep hill and just when it feels like it. It does this in high and low range. Any ideas on where to start looking? Thanks for any help!
