4x4 problems

tryin to fix my four wheel drive so somethin on the truck will work right. i replaced the vaccuum lines thinking maybe that was it. no go. did the auto to manual mod that read about here, still a no go. they wont lock in at all. the cv's and driveshaft will lock but the hubs will not. any ideas? im about to scrap the god damn truck. its a 1998 with a 3.0 btw.

yea it has to be lockin in cause the driveshaft is only locked in when the 4wd light is on. trust me i no that locks cause it spins as the truck moves(thus its locked). same as the cvs. and this is the mod. http://www.ford-trucks.com/article/i...cuum_Hubs.html [/URL]

ok so the hubs are locked and yet you still have no 4x4, Are you sure you dont have a bad axle or something. It would seem if the hubs are locked. the t case works then its gotta be front end related

Ah got ya. I am tracking now. I dont see that modded hub thing working well. It makes sense but I cant seem to think it would hold well, Id look into the AVM manual hubs

warn doesn make hubs for rangers newer than 93...he might have thought you have the newer live axle set up in which you need everything off of an old ranger to convert to manual hubs...the only manual hubs you can get are the AVM/Rugged ridge hubs
