First post here after scouring for answers, so here’s the story. I have a 2003 4x4 4.0/5r55e ranger with 90k on the clock and when first purchased it hesitated to go into drive but sailed through every gear smoothly once driving until recently it won’t go into drive at all. I heard the nightmares of valve body related issues so I ponied up and just bought an entire new valve body with all new solenoids and gaskets (side note the fluid I drain out was rather dark but no burnt smell) Quick weekend job later and I figured it’d be back in business but symptoms have persisted. Reverse engages fine, the fluid I put in is still clean, no CEL, fresh filter. The only thing I can imagine is the clutches are burnt up some how but I wanted to come here before starting the rebuild, thanks in advance.
