What does it have for OD on the tubes and how about the axles, 28's ?

 

You have a 28 spline. Not sure about the tubes but I know they are the same size as the 7.5.

Can an 8.8 w/ 28 spline axles be upgraded with the 31 spline axle and LS, using Ford stuff that is ?
I do understand aftermarket probably could do it but I guess what the real question is, "Is it worth it" ?

 

No you can't do that. The axle shafts are different sizes.

 

IIRC

28 spline is 2.75"
31 spline is 3.25"

 

Do you offroad? Like trails where you are three wheeling it a lot on off camber sections or rocks? Or do you just park a front tire on a rock and take a pic? If you said yes to the second question then don't waste your time and money.

I am more than a front wheeler but this is my DD and I do like the trails, moderate ones, it needs to last a little while more than a year.

I was glad to see the 8.8 4.10 on the tag at least the 33 tires won't be as bad as I thought.

Thanks for the info, I will think about the upgrade to a LVLII 8.8 setup after the lift and Coil-Over hook-up.

 

its worth it to get a 31 spline axle, but its in no way worth it to try and stuff 31 spline stuff in a 28 spline housing.
