96 Ranger Shifter Issue

whats up my ranger bredrin, looking for some advice as to how to go about taking off the shifter. As you can see from the pictures attached, the bolt that keeps it “connected” seems to be off and not protruding enough to take it off the regular way. Any ideas?

I just had to do this the other day. Is that what it looked like when you took the cover off? Or have you already messed with it?

yea that’s how it was after I took the rubber boot off, it was missing the other flat rubber part. I ended up finding the whole shifter assembly at a junkyard so I took the old one out by removing the three T30 screws and pulled the whole shifter out. Then installed the junkyard one which I lucked out on because it is in great condition.

Gotcha. That bolt looks pretty freaking jammed in there. You might have been able to tap it through enough to get that nut off and move it over to the other
side and use it to extract the bolt the rest of the way. That's how I got mine off. Worked like a charm. But I guess replacing the whole thing works also.
Especially if you're tired of screwing with it.
