Any Transmission techs on here?
Any Transmission techs on here?
Okay first off I know quite a bit about automatic transmissions myself I've rebuilt quite a few and have quite a few problem free miles under my belt lol. BUT, My very first rebuild, which was in my '99 Ford Ranger 4.0 OHV has now after about 30,000 trouble free miles thrown a p0741 indicating torque converter clutch performance. So I initially changed the torque converter clutch solenoid, it being the easiest to repair. that did not fix my problem I also replaced the EPC at the same time. Now I'm stuck trying to to figure out if it's a valve body problem like a worn torque converter clutch bore or If my torque converter is actually beginning to fail. The torque converter was replaced when it was rebuilt with a remanufactured torque converter. The valve body was opened and had shift kit installed at the same time but not replaced. Valve body has 291k miles , so I'm leaning towards that being the issue but how can I properly tell without throwing parts at it ? Any help is greatly appreciated.
