Auto Tranny Trouble

I am new to this so please bare with me. I have a 2000 Ranger 4x4 4.0L w/auto trans, with 150k. The trans shifts great thru the gears, kicks down great and shifts in and out of o/d with no problem. But occasionally when I come to a stop or let of the throttle it acts like its in neutral, you give it gas and it doesn't move, I press on the pedal a few times and it slides into gear. Does not matter if it's hot or cold, clean filter and fluid at correct level. I am an excellent engine mechanic but no transmission experience. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like you might have a bad seal somewhere and not getting enough fluid pressure to get the torque converter to pull.Im no expert either thats why i swapped my trans mine was on its way to that. if your decently handy a rebuilt torque converter is relatively inexpensive (as far as auto parts go) and not to hard to get to. good luck on your search for answers.

Thanx for the reply,I am hoping it is as simple as a torque converter, that I can replace. I don't have any internal trans. experience , maybe it's time I got some.
