autolocking hub piece missing

autolocking hub piece missing

I have 1988 xlt with auto locking hubs. The cap is missing on the one side. 4x4 will not engage because of that im assuming. How does that cap go on. You can see the exposed grooved spindle.(is what i call it) Any general help would be great

its taken off with 2 screwdrivers so to put it on you could basically do the reverse and put the cap in place put the screwdrivers in the slots and turn right instead of left.... that is if your talking about what im thinking of

wonder if i could find the cap somewhere..junk yard maybe
