Same size u joints?

1999 4x4 Ranger 3.0l XLT manual

I'm doing my U joints right now, and I got the rear one on (moog 254) and got the front one off. As I was about to put the new one on the front (moog 269) I noticed the new one was significantly smaller than the old one. I measured the two old ones and sure enough they are identical in size. Anyone know whats up with that? Should I put another moog 254 on the front? I'm very confused because everything I read said they should be two different sizes, and even Rock Auto has 269 listed as the front 4x4 u joint.

The 254 is for your rear drive line, both ends of it, transmission end and rear differential end.

The 269 is for your front drive line of your 4x4 at the differential
