Yesterday I decided to tear in and replace the hub assembly on the front left side to resolve an ABS code. Fast forward to today and I have the entire thing back together, but I need this plastic retainer ring in. I bought one new from the ford dealer and it will not slip over the axel. My truck is down until I can get that back on.

Any advice?

 

After some reading, I learned that all the special tool does is push it onto the axel.

I accomplished the same thing with a large socket, a ratchet, and a plastic hammer to tap it on with success.
