Bad Shift Solenoid - No Overdrive
Hey Y'all,
99 Ranger, 3.0 V6. Throwing P1761 code for a bad shift solenoid. Drives alright but it won't shift into overdrive. I had a friend tell me it my just be stuck and that there are some additives I can put in my ATF that might break down dirt or such built up on there unstick it. Any thoughts on that? Will it work and what should I get? Otherwise I've read that I can just replace the solenoid. Is this the kinda thing I can do myself and how much will it cost? I'm decently mechanically handy, just not familiar with this kind of problem and I can't find any good info online about it.
Thanks,
Floody
