I have a 94 3.0 5spd 4x4 lately I can help but notice and incredibly annoying rattle/grinding sound that come from the tranfer case after investigating. Im still short on answers how ever the tcase is sitting directly on the skid plate leading me to think bad transmount?

I have already replaced the trans mount about 1 year ago and since has seen many miles off road and heavy towing.

And when under the truck I can push up on the tans about 3/4 to 1inch
is this normal?

 

i think camburg makes a heavy duty trans mount that is built for offroad use you may try looking into that
