hey all

i have 4.10 gears in the rear, and i'm just wondering if theres any way to upgrade the gears in the front....it just seems like i could get a lot better results out of my 4x4ing with it...

and another ?

how durable is our transfer case and etc? i dont abuse my truck, but i dont want to always pansy around with it...i'd like to have some fun without fear...

 

ur transfer case is a stout unit and can handle some abuse. usually they dont give many problems anyway. ur front axle is a piece of ****. CV joints suck so ****in bad i can not stress enough how much i hate them. give me universal joints and im happy, i can replace one in 45 mins from tear down to driving again. besides a skid plate to protect the diff and re-gearing with a locker or limited slip to replace the stock carrier, which are weaker then an aftermarket carrier, i dont think theres anyway to beef it up.

if u have an auto tranny get a big ****in cooler and add a drain plug to the pan. possibly a remote filter as well.

 

it you do not already have one, get a front skid plate and have fun

Once my jeep dies, Im steeling the solid axle from it. IF it will work, I haven't done any research into it yet, but if does....yummy

does that mean one that goes over the radiator cover and etc, or something bigger...maybe like a westin bull bar or etc

Well if you have a problem hitting deer while offroading, get a westin bullbar. Theres two options for skidplates, no three.

1. Buy a stock ford skidplate and bolt it on. I guess it could be strong..

2. Buy an aftermarket skiplate and bolt it on. Make sure it is strong. Also, you could get a strong one fabbed up at a metals shot.

3. Make a prerunner bumper for your truck, and then get a skidplate built for it. Then the skidplate would be very strongly mounted, as well as encompassing more of the truck, so your whole front end would be hopefully bullet proof.

westin bull bars look cool but thats it. They are very weak, especially the mounts
