Im looking at Stoptech rotors and don't really want drilled because Ive heard that they warp easier, cant be turned, and I really dont need it. I cant seem to find any rotors that are just slotted though. they all seem to be drilled and slotted or blanks. Ive found them for newer rangers but not mine. Do they even make a slotted rotor for a 93 that doesnt suck?

 

Why do you want slotted rotors? If it's for better performane pick up a good set of aftermarket brake pads or go cobra

 

I have ceramic pads and they have helped a lot

 

cant afford to go cobra right now. I ordered some EBC pads that came in today but I know my rotors are needing to be replaced so I am looking to get some decent ones.

 

If you have to replace rotors, go ahead and get the slotted, but you should definitely get some better pads

 

look at sites that are geared for mustangs... most run the same as our rangers. Do a little searching here and I found that ranger4.0 is correct. A member from Oregon used to run either slotted or drilled rotors and only gained a little bit of stopping power. When he upgraded to cobra disc's the difference was day and night. If you dont want to go that route look at pads for better stopping capabilities.

You guys mean pads other than the EBC Greens i just got? I actually have heard good things about them which is why i went with them.

 

I got the ceramic pads (forgot the brand) because I was tired of cleaning brake dust off my wheels

 

AS long as they are not stock... lol. Everyone has a preference, wont know what fits your lifestyle till you use it.

 

Ebc makes great pads but you need to find the right ones for your applications

 

Found some rotors that are only slotted from R1 Concepts and after reading reviews on them I think they will work great with my new pads. They are a pretty good price too. 181 for the pair. they even have powder coated drums.

 

Don't buy powder coated drums, its easy to pull your drums off and paint or powder coat them yourself

 

You needto keep in mind with powder coated drums you can get brake fade faster because the coating does not allow the drum to shed the heat as easily

Yeah thats a good point about the brake fade. i decided to order just the rotors. Im going to get the aerostar drums but not paint them

They had slotted only rotors for 4wd made by Centric

I've got stoptech slotted rotors and EBC yellow stuff brake pads. Awesome stopping power.

 

Just get yourself a good quality blank rotor, and nice sticky pads. Don't forget to replace all brake fluid with a nice bleed job.

Or if you really want to, swap to 95-97 spindles, order the bracket from gumby on rps, and run 12inch sport trac rotors. Then get a set of nice sticky pads and you'll be fine. I like ceramics because they tend to be less dusty and quieter (although not as high performing, but on the street that is al you need)...something like Centric Posi Quiet ones work great for me...that is, before i swapped to cobra brakes!
