Limited slip

I looked at my axle code on my door and it says that my truck does not have a L/S. But last weekend when I went camping I was pulling my buddies jeep out of some mude and both of my tires dug holes. So if I dont have a L/S only my right tire should have dug a hole right? So why did both tires do that if I dont have one?

Thanks

If both tires have no traction and there is equal weight on both they will both spin.

if they have even traction they'll still both spinpossibly, its when you get one tire on a slippery surface, or in the air that your going to see only one spinning.

With the tranny in Park (or in gear) jack the both rear tires off the ground. Now spin one of the tires by hand. If the *other* tire turns the opposite direction you have a open diff. Or.. your LS diff is completely shot.

Okay I can try that. I would imagine I dont have one since my axle code says I dont but when I was pulling someone out both tires made deep holes so I wasnt sure if some how the put the wrong axle in from the factory :)

sorry but wrong

in the case of jackin up the truck to see if they go the same or different directions with a l/s they would still go different ways my friend. a l/s works different then a locker a locker when jacked up would only go the same forward or back motion as with a l/s only kicks in at a set rpm at the axle

Don't count it out....we did a truck at Grigg's house years ago, and low and behold he had an L/s when he never ordered or paid for it. Sucked b/c he bought a No Slip for an open carrier, but he needed the L/S model!

lol that would be nice. I will probably try and change the fluid this week so I will get a pic up for everyone to see this way they can tell me what I have or not.
