What vehicles came with the D44 Hi pinion? is there anyway to convert a regular d44 over to a hi pinion? - Jay

 

Talk to Zabeard, I swear he had a thread just like this but I can't find it, just one about him asking about price guidance.

 

mine is from a 78 f-150.

 

i think most of the full size d44 are hp

 

badkarma are you running shorted or full width? i cant tell from the pics. and what rear do you have?? still the 8.8??

 

all full size trucks that have the Dana 44 front has the high pinion.....that would be the F-150 and Bronco with coil springs/radius arms, and a F-250 with leaf springs....

 

i have seen a f-150 fullsize that has a lp 44

 

he is running full width.

i will be running full width.

76-77 the C wedges are welded on 78-79 the C wedges are cast on.

If you want to run a radius arm setup either will work, if you want something else, 76-77.

no way to convert a low pinion to a high pinion.

well im trying to figure out either fw or shortened on my 91 trail truck i def doing leafs up front.

 

Go full width without question. If you want to run leafs 77.5-79 F250 would be a good source for an axle.

 

some guy near me is selling a d44 and d60 with all the steering junk for 275$ out of a 78 F150. good deal?

 

hell if i could find 2 axles like that for that price, i'd prolly shat myself.. i think its a great deal

 

its just that he says that the d44 is out of a 79 bronco, but he states it is 8 lug?

 

who cares the lug, you can change and convert that anyway

 

So long as the axles are in working order, yes, that's a very good deal.

 

It is most likely not a 79 bronco axle if its 8 lug. and specially if it comes with a d60 rear as that sounds more like a f250 combo of axles then that of a bronco.
