Icon5 Clunking/Creeking noise...

Well this is my 2001 4x4...first some background...i have taken out the front shaft and noise is still there. i have a clunking/creeking noise and i cant find it..it sounds like its coming from the tranny x-member area but i see nothing there. heres a scenario when i hold the brake and put shifter into reverse and let off the brake enough to move about a inch it makes this mysterious nosie and you can feel it lighly in the floor same if i put it in drive and let off a little it makes the noise...i took the rear shaft off the t-case and let it goto 80mph and makes no noise (properly supported by jackstands on frame all 4 corners)

Rear shaft u-joints, or your brakes are creaking.

U-joints often begin to "creak" before they begin to click and can be doing both at the same time.
