So I can work my way around most of my truck but I'm a little hesitant to mess with my transmission before getting a few comments from you guys or girls.
This week out of the blue my 2002 4X4 4.0 XLT developed a new noise when the clutch is depressed, which stops when its let go, kind of sounds like some violent rattling down in the vicinity of the clutch. So after some reading of various posts on here I'm almost convinced its the throw out bearing, does this sound right to you?
After poking around under the truck I found a leak in the transfer case too, could one cause the other?
The transfer case looks like crap so i might look at replacing that and also plan on replacing the clutch with this
Definitely sounds like the throw out bearing. The only thing I don't like about that clutch kit is the lack of a rubber boot around the slave cylinder. The rubber boot that comes on some slave cylinders helps keep debris away from the internals, which may help pro-long the life of the slave cylinder.
