Hello Guys, I need your help. I recently had to replace the main rear seal on my father's 96 Ranger 3.0.
When doing the work, we decided to replace the transmission hydraulic fluid and filter. We used Merkon V fluid from Walmart and Duralast filter and gasket. The old fluid did not smell burnt, and had the normal clutch dust.
Once the work was finished, the reverse began to feel clunky, and gear 2 did not work, the O.D light flashed, which is why I got the codes P0732 and P0756.
I don't know what transmission model (4r44e, 5r44e) mine is, because maybe the previous owner replaced it, as well as the engine. I plan to replace solenoid B, or the valve body. Are the solenoids and valve bodies interchangeable between the 4r44e, 5r44e models?
I hope you can help me with my problem, and I thank you in advance for your advice and suggestions.
P0732 Gear 2 Incorrect ratio
P0756 Shift Solenoid B Performance or Stuck Off
1996 3.0l will have a 4R44E
Yes, 4R44E and 5R44E use the same valve body and solenoids
Test the solenoid wires first on the 16 pin connector on the outside of transmission
Use ohm meter on pin 10 and pin 14(SSB = solenoid B), test all 4 solenoids OHMs, just to make sure OHM meter is working like it should
If it tests as OK then check the connector on truck side
Since you moved transmission back and then re-attached it maybe you pinched a wire between bell housing and engine, check for that around the top of the bell housing
