my truck had a bad day.

i was on my way home from school and i pulled into my driveway and backed out to pull out front of my house. wile i was backing out right before i hit my brakes i felt a small thump i thought it was wierd so i pulled infront of my house and i put it in reverse and i started to role forward and it would just rev like in neutral

after my hour of swering my head off i called up my tranny guy and told me i broke a band inside the tranny.

it was eather fix the prob for 1,200K or get it totaly rebuilt for 2k and i was really thinking on fixing it cheep and put it on craigs list the same day and buy a 4cyl ranger to save on gas and pull my jetski around.

but i thought about it and i knew my truck really good and how to fix almost everything and the tranny was the only thing i did not know about how to fix so i decided to pay the 2k.

the guy is also changeing my o2 sensors out for me to for free because i stripped out my drivers side one with a box wrench.

so now i am broke and i could have used the $ for a nice lift kit

o and the guy said that the ranger tranny is pretty much a Pinto tranny with over drive and should not be using much bigger tires because there really week?

Manual swap. I paid 2200 for mine to be rebuilt...now it won't keep the intermediate servo for more than 4 months.

Just save your money, go to a JY and get a manual, get a new flywheel/clutch/pressure plate, shifter, PCM, and pedals...

Manual swap? Never have the dreaded ranger auto transmission problem again!!!!

If I ever have to rebuilt mine again, it's def. going to be a manual.

with mine it either takes a min. to go into revers or I have to rev the motor up several times and it will pop in gear. I dont have the money to fix it so I just use revers as little as I can. so I guess I have the same problem? I also know how much it will cost to fix it now...

well its all better.

i had a choice on just fixing the reverse band and a couple other things for 1200$ or 2000$ for a whole rebuild kit.

i was thinking really hard to fix it cheep and sell the thing and buy a newer truck becasue of mpg. i keep thinking it but then i decided that i put all the time into my truck and i have changed almost everything and can do almost anything to my truck to fix it once the tranny is fixed (the thing that i cant repare by myself) then the only really bad thing is the engine blows up and i drop a new 5.0 into it HAHA.

and he changed the o2 for free and i got a 1 year 12,000Miles warrenty on the tranny that will runn out in like 8 months with my driving haha

but i am glad that i have her back now i owe my dad my whole tax rabate and the returns to pay for the stupid thing.
