D44 Interchanging Parts

I have the following

76 F150 D44 that had cast C wedges welded to it, 5on5.5 lug HP axle.

and

78-79 F250 D44 HP, leaf spring, 8lug HP Axle.

After some research I have found some info on the axle shafts that makes me question some compatibility.

I am wanting to use the 76 axle housing and the 78-79 Outers.

Here is what I gathered

So it appears the shafts inners are different lengths, so does that mean i can use the shafts from the 76 with the 78-79 outers? (i hope)
I would think so but when i am looking for bearings and such for the outers on the 78-79 there is some confusion on bearing size and such.

Any help is appreciated.

Also I got my info from here.

i don't think you will be able to use the inners from the '76 axle on the '79 axle.....the reason is the '76 is too long......i could be wrong though......

if it were my axle, i would order new axles for it......contact Moser Engineering (they are pretty close to you) about new axles.....when i priced them last year for a narrowed 9" rear end i think they were $100 each.......

or you could even have them shorten the axles for you....they can do that also and respline the axles...

maurice I dont want to use the inners from one on the other, just going to use the 76 inners and the 79 outers is what i was thinking, its the same Ujoint so they should interchange.

The outers from the 79 will work just fine with the inners from the 76.
