I am new to this site so, I hope someone out there can maybe give me a hand. I have a 1997 Ranger XLT with roughly 142 thousand miles on her. When I bought her she was in pretty rough shape but I worked out the kinks pretty well. Second day in, it would make a winding up sound as I accelerated and than as I slowed down it would winding down and make a bang from up underneath the cab. I was going to take it to the shop but the sound the next day went away. It finally now came back plus a check engine light that I will have to read the code later. Does anybody have any ideas what this could be?
