Front Drive Shaft Removal

Can my front drive shaft be removed without having fluid come out of the transfer case? If so can I drive my truck without the front drive shaft? I am pretty sure I need a new drive shaft cv repair kit but I want to be sure. I have a ratting/scrubbing sound coming out from under my truck and a bad vibration when I get above 65 mph. The drive shaft can be moved around a good bit in the cv part of the drive shaft.

YES you can unbolt the front driveshaft without having fluid come out of the case. Yes you can drive without your front shaft. Are you talking the ujoint on the front as your drive shaft cv or the tulip thing on the tcase??

I am talking about the drive shaft cv. The tulip thing on the t case does not have any play in it. The play is where the drive shaft goes into the cv part.
