Shaky Ranger from take off-top end
I check the U-joints yesterday and they are tight with no play in them.
The truck is an 01 3.0 v6 with 197,000 on it.Its always had a small shake I could not nail down and so I lived with it but of the last 1000 miles its developed a shake that will shake the seats so bad that you want to not drive it any longer. The thing is its not so much in the steering wheel either but anything in the cab will shake and rattle all over.
I am down to thinking its the drive shaft.
Any other thoughts? Any had this happen before?
I searched around and did not find this exact issue.
Thanks

Pogi,
I rebuilt the front 6 months ago but I will look at them to see if one failed early. Thanks for your response!
SBC,
I am getting the tires and rims checked tomorrow for any bends and just as you said it might be a belt.I had the shaft balance checked and the U Joints replaced today.I pulled it in the garage and replaced an axle seal and rear brakes while I was at all this. There was a bad rear u joint but that only cured about 70% of the shake.I am as I said and you advised doing the tires and wheels tomorrow, will also check front wheel bearings and I will post an update.
Thanks for your advice!

I am in the process of re doing the front end myself, I would think that a front end would last a little longer than 4 years. But I guess once one item goes unless it's repaired quickly the rest would soon follow. I am learning more about repair and trouble shooting now as I'm doing it myself. I hope you find the problem quickly.
