FWD Won't Disengage
The FWD on my 97 won't disengage. I used the FWD LO on Sat worked OK but, when I turned the switch back to 2WD it didn't do anything, won't disengage, the lights are OK. I'm thinking it might have something to do with the weather being so cold. Is there something I can check out, first. I appreciate any help, Thanks Loads

Just for clarification, FWD = Front wheel drive vehicles, 4WD = 4 wheel drive vehicles
If 4WD lights are telling you you are in 4high or 4low or 2WD(no lights) then motor on transfer case is working and so is 4x4 module
4WD light will usually Flash when motor is not moving
You can try getting under the vehicle and tapping on the shift motor on the back of the transfer case with hammer or ??
The brushes in the motor can stick so motor won't turn, but as said above you would usually get flashing 4WD lights
There are 4 fuses to check
In engine fuse box pull out Fuse #4 and check it, 20amp, that's the power for shift motor
Fuse #8, 20amp
In the cab fuse box check #13 and #27, both 15amp
If you still have Auto Hubs and front wheels still seems to be locked, shift to 2WD and back up 75ft, that should unLock them

RonD... you always amaze me with the wealth of knowledge you process or you have the best search engine on the web.
My '03 gets stuck in Low Range sometimes, and I end up jerking the truck backend forth and it frees up. Mine may be the beginning of the end fr my T/C shifting mechanism but it works for me.
And if you didn't know, don't backup and turn tight, front end doesn't like it !
