Gear break in..
I know there's some guidelines to the break in on ring and pinions. But how should i go about breaking in my front gears? its spooled so i cant exactly just drive around all day in 4wd.. I've been driving around with one hub locked in just to keep it all lubricated but thats not doing anything for the break in procedure.

no i don't have a drive shaft yet, i was just bored so i'm asking.
my old aussie was basically a spool.. so i know its not very pleasant to drive on the street with the hubs locked in, have you ever tried turning some 35x1250s on pavement with a spooled front? its hard even on dirt..

get a front shaft and leave the hubs unlocked, stick it in 4wd for about 50 miles or so then just wheel the hell out of it. My front gears got about 10 miles of drive time on em then i just went out and played. After the first or second hard wheeling trip just swap out the fluid and clean it all out.

yea thats my issue, then again.. I'll have true 4wd.. for the first time ever so i should be taking it pretty easy except for the gnarly hill climbs where i'll be testing the truck at.
