Gear compatibility

Hey y'all!

I've found a 4.10 gear set with the main gear measuring 7.5" in diameter. My rear axle is an open 8.8" and currently with a 3.27 gear ratio.

Would I be able to directly replace the old gear ratio with the 'new' one? Any special tools needed?

I'm not very knowledgeable regarding these things, but I have changed my axle seals, and even reassembled the spider gears because I foolishly moved the carrier around after removing the pinion shaft.

I've got a '93 4.0L Supercab 4x4 XLT

Thanks for any/all suggestions!

Phil

Even if you could do that you wouldn't want to. The 7.5 is much weaker.

I don't think it'll fit.

No it won't fit on your 8.8.
