Icon4 help transmission prob.

hey guys yesterday i towed trailer with my truck (4.0 with auto trans) for the first time and it was just an empty 12x6 utility trailer and today my truck just started shifting really hard and then the o/d light started blinking. i read in my owners manual that it is malfuncioning and it needs to be serviced imediately. does this problem have any thing to do with towing a trailer or what?
so what do i do, has any one had this problem b4 and is it something simple that i can fix or does it need to be taken in to a shop and have the trans rebuilt or replaced
thanks Jordan

well $2700 later i now have a new tranny
i took it to my local shop that does some of my work and they said the fluid looked good but i should take it to a transmission specialist so i did and they did an inspection and there was a bunch of black sludge in the pan (which was no surprise the previous owner never changed the tranny fluid for 50k miles) and they checked the computer and it threw a code saying the 3rd gear ratio is messed up so they said it had to be replace/rebuilt so i opted to have it replaced and so the put in a shift kit as well as a stronger torque converter

Dang, I don't see how you guys can pay that much money to get something like that replaced!

That sucks man. That cost almost as much as my truck did ($3100). I hate when people don't take care of there stuff.

well it wasnt my choice my dad didnt want me doing it myself so i made him pay for it
im sure it could have been rebuilt for cheaper but my family has a curse or something our last 3 trucks had the transmission go out at 60k miles and one of them was rebuilt and went out again 20k later
the other bonus to a new tranny is i got a 3year 50k mile warranty
