Id check the fluid in the trans, could be low causing the bearings to whine

Did you check all the fluids before driving it?

Yes all fluids are full... It sounds like the noise is def. coming from the tranny and out the shifter... Truck run good just can't put my finger on the noise... I'm thinking a bearing or something not lubed cause 4th gear makes no noises

Thats weird. How about in OD/5th? cause I wonder if the noise is just not present due to the fact you arent running the rpm up in 4th like the other gears?

It has to be a bearing then, At this point so long as nothing is grinding I wouldnt be overly concerned but it does need fixed

What bearing do you think it could be?

There's the confirmation that' it's a bearing. It's not that a bearing isn't lubed, it's that a bearing is disintegrating inside and it's wear surfaces are rough. It'll get worse, until you fix it. If you rebuild yours, you may be buying more parts due to continued driving, if you junkyard one, than no biggie other than it might get real loud over an exceptionally short amount of time and make you wonder if it's gonna make it home.

Cross shaft comes to mind, but you need to open it up and inspect.

*Think about all those little chunks of metal floating around in there, wearing the other parts.
