Lean codes

I have replaced both cylinder heads due to cracks and over heating. I still have the lean codes on both banks even after going back Tru and replacing both upper and lower intake gaskets. Any help will be great.

It's a 98 ford ranger 4.0, 2wd, ext cab. P0170 and p0171 I believe we're the codes ( lean bank 1 and bank 2)

Welcome to the forum

Should include year and engine model in posts

1998 4.0l Ranger?

Also include exact code numbers so we are all talking about the same things

First off, Lean codes don't mean the engine is actually running Lean
"lean code" means the computer calculations were off so it is having to add more fuel than it calculated

Its calculations are tested by the O2 sensors
O2 sensors last 12 years or 100k miles then they start to "go Lean"
So how old are your O2 sensors?

Also burning coolant or oil screws up O2 sensors(and Cat converters), so I would replace them regardless of age, if heads were cracked and you were burning coolant

Then if it still sets "Lean codes" you can look at other reasons
Vacuum leaks
Low fuel pressure
