Transmission/clutch problem 89 Ranger 2.3L 5sp
Last summer, I put in new clutch, and rebuilt transmission from junk yard on my 1989 Ford Ranger 2.3l w/ 5 sp trans. It was working fine, and then started getting that high whining noise. Started popping out of 2nd gear. One day , something went clunk, and it died. Seems to be looked inbetwwen gears, and won't go anywhere. It's been parked for 2 months, and now, we have warmer weather in Seattle....any ideas; what I need to do?

Pull out the transmission.
'89 Ranger 2.3l should have a Mazda M50D-R1 trans
Not sure on the R1 but the R2 had 3 rubber plugs that would leak trans fluid over time, you would NOT see a puddle on the ground so wouldn't notice the loss of fluid until trans had a failure.
Dorman or Dana made steel replacement plugs for these
