lol there goes Transmission number 1 haha

Well I was leaving Auto Zone, My friend needed wax and car cleaning stuff so I took him down there. As I was pulling outta the parking lot BOOOOOM ....

plenty of power ... just nothing going to the wheels... lol so ... i push it back into the parkin lot and my friend and I walk back to my work and get his truck and tow it back to work. I figured since my clutch was giving me problems ... hence this thread ....
https://www.ranger-forums.com/forum2...ad.php?t=12312
i figured it finally blew.
So... today I pulled my trans .... cake since ive done it so many times lol ...

threw it into first gear and spun the input shaft where the clutch goes and the flang where the drive shaft goes does not move ... so **** ... i pull the top cover to inspect the gears they are all fine ... removed the t-case and found this in the extension housing ... lol

lol the output shaft twisted and snapped off ... WHOOPS it looks like it had been twisting for a while and that last taking off snapped it.

Its going to be 1 week before I can get a new outputshaft ... fun stuff ... gotta love power and 35s ... im thinkin i need to regear to help with the stress on drivetrain lol.

And this is how my truck is sittin for now ... lol

lol this is fun hehe!

Wow, that is sad -- sorry that happened to you!

That's one of the important reasons to regear (drivetrain stress), so I think you're right about that. Still, although not regearing may have aggravated it -- there's no guarantee you didn't have a marginal shaft to begin with.

im learning this very slowly. Drivetrain stress sucks. It is my fault though. I did not re-gear, and I race around in my truck. SO that is one of the weakest links in the trany, and it finaly gave way. It looks like it had been twisitng for a long time. the splines are all twisted and that was the last straw.

There is no gaurantee that it wasnt a marginal shaft is true, I do have 45k on my truck, I would think it would last longer, but then again 35s with 4.10s plus the added power of a supercharger who knows. Its mostly my driving I would say though. I am going to have to easy up or build it to take the power.

And in this case I am going to look into a new trans to swap in, with new/better clutch, get a custom rear driveshaft, regear.

It does suck, but I rather it happen close to my work in daily driving than on the trail and have to get towed out of there.

Too true on that last statement. Let us know what you find out about a new tranny. I want to get rid of this OEM clutch. Need to know my possibilities. hehehehe

He works at a ford dealer where he can work on the truck himself and warranty is a good thing when you work at the dealer.
