First gear shakes and almost cuts engine out
Hi there, relatively new to the forum got some awesome help the first time I posted and would love to get some help with my 2007 Ranger sport 4x4. After my engine is warmed up nicely driving for about 20 minutes, I find taking off from a stop the clutch is either slipping or something is off balance and it begins to jump quite intensely. I find when my rpms are around 1400 in first starting out it should be smooth but it begins to jump and im forced to have to engage first gear using much higher rpm's. My mechanic told me its just my clutch which im prepared to swap out at 27000 km to take care of the truck but I feel like its a more serious issue. Anyone that can help I would seriously appreciate any bit of advice/info from personal experience or even a guess. I am currently using public transit because i dont want to worsen the issue. Thanks Forum :)

Mechanic is most likely correct, reads like clutch is worn out .
BUT...............check for loose Motor or transmission mount.
Pop the hood and start engine
Set emergency brake
Push clutch pedal in
Put trans in 1st gear
Put foot on the brake
Slowly let clutch out and watch the engine, gap under hood, it will move slightly but not much and NOT lift up, push clutch in before it stalls
Try it a few times
Now put trans in reverse
Do the same test, slowly let out clutch and watch engine
If engine lifts then motor mount is broken or loose, and you are feeling that when you start off from stopped.
Trans mount just has to be visually inspected, but you may also notice gear shift is "rolling" from side to side when starting out, or opposite in reverse.

Thanks for sending me a link to put up pictures. Just at work and cant fiddle much. I did have a chance to check the tests you mentioned, and again thanks for the info. I noticed that the motor barely budged at all, so I feel its safe to assume the motor mount and transmission mount are not the culprit. If it is the clutch would it make sense that its only having an issue when the engine has been well warmed up? not to mention its only got 27000 km on the truck.... my last car I abused like no other and it lasted 100k. Just curious to know what you or anyone would do in my case? thanks again for the help! I really appreciate it!

2007 with only 27k would mean it sat around alot, while low milers are great for interior and exterior wear and tear, or lack of it, it can be bad for the running gear.
Gravity pulls all the oil and grease down as drive train sits, so when started, or used, parts are dry which causes wear.
Have seen/owned many a low milers with seal and bearing issues, also rotten belts and hoses, goes with the territory, it's better in the last 10-20 years with the newer materials but I am still shy about low milers that I want to use as a driver.
The throwout bearing could be bad prematurely because of dry starts, or it was bad from the factory and you are just seeing it now.
Oil and grease thins out as it warms up, so warn parts tend to make more noise as oil or grease thins out, like a lifter tap after engine warms up.
