manual transfer case
manual transfer case
Does anyone know what year and what vehicles came with a manual BW 1354 transfer case? I live by the biggest junk yard on the east coast and would like to do this swap to my 01 explorer sport.
My t case now is electric. Is there going to be any diffuculty swapping out to a manual. Such as speedometer or any other controls or is it a easy and straight forward switch? This electric one is nothing but trouble everytime it gets wet it decides to not work. Im building this rig to be reliable.
GOOD question.....I too need to find this out.
If you get one out of a FX4, there shouldn't be any difference because your speedo is electronic, and the tcase is came from a electronic speedo truck.....but what if you run a cable speedo'd tcase? When did they go to electric speedo??

What kind of ranger had the manual 13-54? I saw one today that had the 2.9 motor but no tag on the tcase to find out what it was. All the newer rangers with the manual tcase have what motor? Any help would be appreciated. What do I need to look for?

digging a little....
but also keep in mind that just because the engine is automatic (on the older vehicles) doesn't mean it didn't have a manual t-case. BUT, on 02 and 03 rangers, you had to have the FX4 (for 02) or FX4 Level II (03) models AND manual transmission to get the manual t-case

I'm not running my stock DS anyhow, I have the super lift shaft, but now I'm worried about the front DS mating up. An adapter would work, but that's just more money.

BTW Maurice I think you need to re-read his post. It looks like you missed what he was asking.

OR, I could just find a 2002 BW 13-54M for under $400, muahahaha. Shipping out today I believe! Now I just need to local the FX4 off-Road/LevelII (02/03) shift linkage, leather boot, and bezel!
Edit: I need to be more like you mid-west boys and not say anything about mods until I can do them and post pics.

That is simply wrong. No argument about it. You needed to re-read his question. Now if it were the other way around and he was trying to use an older shaft with a newer case then you would be correct. No need to post negative smileys directed at me for correcting you.
