My Ford Ranger won't run
My Ford Ranger won't run
I need help please I have a 94 Ford Ranger 2.3 the timing belt broke on it going down the road I put a timing belt on it time it according to the book and videos that I watched I am a mechanic work on cars all of my life but this thing still will not start change crank sensor still no good it will try to start but acts like it is out of time any information would be greatly appreciate thanks
Timing marks can be a bit confusing on the 2.3l
There are triangles and diamonds
Triangle is only used on CAM gear
Diamond is only used on AUX gear
Both CAM and AUX gears are the same size, so are interchangeable, and will have BOTH MARKS
And a worn off diamond can look like a triangle, lol.
So double check that
This would be wrong: https://static.cargurus.com/images/s...1600x1200.jpeg

Looks like a triangle but look closer
If memory serves, the key ways on Cam and AUX will both be pointed down, and crank key way pointed up, when correct timing is set
Engine sits at a bit of an angle so down and up are also a bit angled, perpendicular to oil pan gasket surface is up and down
