New clutch, new master and new slave. Clutch not moving.

I installed a new clutch system on my 1992 2.3 Ford Ranger. New rear main seal, new pilot bearing, new clutch and pressure plate and new master and slave cylinder. I first bought the slave and master in a set from RockAuto and the master was supposed to be prebeld. Took a good while to get the transmission back in as I found out I did not push the pilot in enough for the transmission to mate back to the engine.

I finally got it all back together and hooked the line to the slave. Let it bleed and while I get some pressure in the master the slave doesnt ever move. I have bleed, reverse bled over and over and it will never move.

What are the chances the new slave is just bad? Really sucks as took me forever to get this thing back together to have to again take it apart to replace the slave again.

Who made the Slave?

I think LUK was OEM for Ford most years

Just to qualify what is happening.....................
You can open the bleeder and have someone press down on clutch pedal.........and fluid squirts out rapidly
If so then the Quick Disconnect on the end of Masters hose is hooked up to slave OK

If you can't push down on the clutch pedal then the Quick Disconnect fitting is not in all the way or is the wrong fitting
Ford changed fittings in early 1990's so 1991/2/3 can be a mixed bag you often need to just buy the slave an Master as a set just to be sure

Not much to the slave, its just an open chamber with a piston on one end, when extra fluid it forced into it, piston is push out to disengage pressure plate

If clutch pedal can be pressed to the floor without movement of the slave(or lots of fluid leaking out, lol) then problem is the Master, it has no seal on its piston so it is not Forcing fluid down the hose and into the slave

The second issue is happening. I get pressure and the clutch gets hard to push down but never moves the slave. Yes fluid comes out when bleeding and I can reverse bleed up through to the master cylinder and it fills up.

the new master the rod will not lock in at all I push and it never clicks in. I attach to the pedal and pump and still doesn’t

The master is one from rock auto it sure what brand e slave is a Luk

If the pedal stops moving and won't move any more with bleeder closed, but does go to the floor with bleeder open then yes, your new slave is jammed

It seems to move like normal. I get some pressure and it felt like it would engage but look in the port and no movement.

I removed the master last night to try and bench bleed but I cannot get the piston to move and as said the rod doesn’t click in when installed. I guess the new master is bad the slave isn’t leaking so I assume the fluid is not getting pushed to extend it.

Yes, if pedal goes down to the floor then Master is the issue

I've got a new master but the fitting is not going into the slave connection. Swear one thing gets fixed another issue comes up. Very tired of this truck. Going to likely cut the end off the other "new" master that was bad and use a compression fitting to join them together. Had to do that before when did clutch job and couldn't get slave disconnected. Oh well

Yes, 1992 is an in between year when Ford was switching from one style of quick connect to another style

Did the old master have a part number on it?

The old master was too old to view any part number. But in the end I ended up cutting the line and just using a compression fitting to attach the old connector to the new master line. Slave now moves so the master was definitely the issue. Looks to move about half an inch in the transmission so looks like I got it working now and or enough for me to start putting the rest of the truck together and start testing.
