Noise in rear axle

bump bump bump (almost a banging) at 25 mph(max noticable) mostly under accel. along with growl under accel. Noisy, more under accel 20 mph up. This is a used one I just bought has a new noise, the original had a whining growl under moderate accel from a start under a turn at times... Any help???

both are open 7.5". original is a 3.45(250k miles) and a broken spider shaft pin-bolt, can't inspect to see if it is messed up internal. The one I just bought is 3.73 ( w/banging ) is 96 (miles unknown) had a bit of metal powder in the magnet One of the brakes puked and locked one wheel.

pinion bearings. Mileage or bad job on the pinion seal can easily lead to this.

I am pretty sure 8.8 93-97 works on my 93. Any other years/vehicles that can bolt in, even if stance is a little wider or if I have to improvise a little.

any 8.8 ranger axle will work, but make sure the gear is the same ratio, or the speedometer will be wrong,

3.73 vs. the original 3.45 will help with the taller tires. But,.. all the spring perches have the same ctr to ctr mounts??

Gears do affect the speedo...

98-00 trucks are not affected by this change Previous and newer generation trucks are.
